As with most Chinese companies, you will be teaching courses to K-12. The pay-rate is up to $14 per hour. They are mainly looking for native ESL teachers but will consider non-native as well. You should have a TEFL, TESOL, or CELTA certificate. K-12 teaching experience is preferred. This is a newer company focused on teaching students in China typically 3am-6pm BST. The pay rate is 20-30£ depending on the level you teach. The UK has a status called Qualified Teacher Status(QTS) which is a bonus if you have. Having a TEFL certification should be good enough. They also ask that you have a clear enhanced DBS which is a background check performed in the UK. There is a bonus structure of 5£ for every extra student in the same class. They are hiring both native and non-native teachers.
This company hires native teachers and teachers from the Philippines. They pay $3 per 25-minute lesson. You must have a wired internet connection, be in a quiet area, have a headset and clear camera, and have a Tax Identification Number(TIN). It is a bonus if you also have a certification such as a TEFL, TOEIC, or CELTA.
This company claims to be the largest website for Russian and Eastern European students who are learning English online. As of this writing, they boast over 1400 teachers with over 13000 students, with over one million completed lessons. They accept non-native English teachers and prefer that you have certification in TEFL, CELTA, or DELTA. All lessons are conducted over Skype.
This company is out of Russia, has a well put together website, and has been around for seven-plus years. They will accept non-native teachers as long as you have a neutral accent and have prior teaching experience.
This Chinese company hires native and non-native English teachers as long as they meet their requirements. It is common for some of the other Chinese schools to only hire teachers from the UK, US and Australia, as an example. The pay is decent at $10-15 per hour. You will be teaching children using TRPS: Tri-Rounds-Role-Play-Scenario. The teacher and student will engage in role-playing through three rounds to help the student experience real-life scenarios. One negative piece of feedback is that the materials they use are not of high quality. That will end up costing you extra time as a teacher.
They are looking for native teachers only. You can earn money through one on one Skype lessons, editing conversations, and replying to messages. This is a good job for those of you who do not want to talk or are non-native speakers who have good grammar skills but not a good enough accent to get hired at many of the top companies.
This company is focused on students in Saudi Arabia. They prefer native English teachers but if you look at their list of teachers you can see that they also hire non-native English teachers as long as you are qualified. The pay rate is $12-15 depending on your background, and they prefer to hire TESL/TEFL/TESOL certified teachers.

This company is looking for native and non-native teachers. They have courses along with one on one lessons. The 45 min lessons cost the students $8 per lesson so the teacher’s rate is not that high.
This is a Taiwanese company looking for native and non-native online ESL teachers with at least one and a half years teaching experience. You can email an introduction video and your resume to [email protected] For Filipino teachers, they have a Facebook page where you can keep up with the latest recruitment days.
One thing that they state is the following: “Ginseng believes in fair hiring practices and the value of a diverse staff. We want the best teachers out there, regardless of gender, race, religion, orientation, and native language.” So for those of you that have experienced discrimination of one sort or another, you might want to look towards them. The lessons are no one-on-one, but rather is a class taught to groups of students from various locations around the world. An ideal teacher for them is one who can design and deliver fast-paced, engaging lessons while learning how to use their technology which might require a bit of a learning curve.
This company mainly hires teachers from the Philippines and native teachers from the US, but others are welcome to apply. They are almost always looking for new teachers and as long as you are fluent in English then you should apply. The base pay is $5 per 25 minute lesson for 1-on-1 and $9 for groups. The pay rate is up to $22 per hour for native teachers if you can meet all of their bonuses and incentives.
The Online Teacher
This is a recruiting agency that mainly specializes in Chinese companies. Recently they have started to add companies from other countries. They are focused on native English teachers from North America, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. However, they recently have been looking for non-native ESL teachers as they have expanded over the last few months.
This company is hiring Filipino online English teachers who meet a long list of requirements. Be sure to check out their complete list before applying. All lessons are taught over Skype and the pay rate is around $4 an hour. They do hire non-native teachers.
This company is based out of Vietnam. They claim to have “over 50,000 students from Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam”. They hire non-native teachers with a preference for teachers from the Philippines. The pay rate is $10 starting out and can go up to $15. They guarantee 20 hours a month and more if you are good and available.
A Top Class
The pay for this starts out at $12 per lesson. They are looking for native speakers of English, French, German or Spanish. You will be teaching these languages to kids. To apply send your profile picture, resume, and teaching certificate to [email protected]
The pay rate depends on where you are from with the top pay being between $12-14 an hour. The hourly rate of 105-150 PHP per lesson is for teachers from the Philippines. After the probationary period, you can participate in further incentives. They have a strong support group on Skype as well. This company is looking for teachers from the Philippines. Each class that you teach is 25 minutes with mainly one-on-one lessons. You will be teaching kindergarten age kids or early primary school kids with very few adults. Only apply if you have native speaker fluency. First-time teachers are welcomed as well. You need to have a degree from one of the better higher level education institutes from the US. Their hiring process involves an interview, training, test lessons and then you are a teacher! They prefer teachers with TESOL/TEFL/CELTA/IELTS/TOEFL/TOEIC or a BA in English. They hire both online and onsite teachers. It looks like they are mainly recruiting teachers from the Philippines. At least that is what I can see from the Glassdoor reviews.
This company only hires Filipino teachers. They are a small company, with less than 25 tutors. Their lessons are 25 minutes long and are taught over Skype. Compensation is 120PHP-160PHP based on experience and the shift you work. You need an ADSL connection that is faster than 1.5mbps. They are looking for teachers with experience of at least 6 months, a BA degree in any field, and availability of more than 20 hours per week. The base salary is 110 Pesos per hour, but they do offer an incentive program. You will need to have a stable internet connection, a quiet environment, and good equipment for teaching the students. They also require that you have finished at least two years in college and have excellent written and oral English skills. This company from China has their own app to teach a wide variety of subjects from phonics to TOEFL and IELTS. It is recommended that you have a TEFL certification or an equivalent. The typical rate that teachers set is $10-18 per hour with some teachers charging as high as $0 or more. You do not have to be a native teacher to apply.
